Potential is a 1983 science-fiction short story by Isaac Asimov.
Part of the Multivac series, it first appeared in the February 1983 issue of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. It was later collected in The 1984 Annual World's Best SF, 1986's Science Fiction by Asimov, and 1986's Tales from Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine.
